Casey Lipka, a Los Angeles–based bassist, vocalist, and composer, creates a genre-expansive sound and brings a collaborative spirit to her work. She has toured nationally and internationally both with bands she has founded as well as the acclaimed rock band CAKE. She’s equally at home whether she’s performing house concerts or on stages like NPR’s Mountain Stage.

Casey’s love of music can be traced back to her childhood discovering “The Sound of Music” and “West Side Story.” Her mom also fondly recalls that “there was never a time Casey wasn’t singing.” The key to unlocking Casey’s musical identity – connection. Casey’s artistry has been shaped by building bands, creating collective projects, and centering music as a practice of dialogue, community, and shared storytelling.

With multiple solo projects to her name – including her debut album “Show Up” and a forthcoming second release, “Giving It Time” in Spring of 2026 – Lipka’s work spans composing for ballet and museum installations to leading large-scale Motown tributes and community-centered music initiatives. Casey received an Innovation Grant to create a collaborative music series highlighting the lived experiences of women musicians, a Play-In ACMP Grant hosting a gathering that centered on women and nonbinary double bassists in Los Angeles, and a Professional Development Grant supporting her continued growth as a creative leader.
